Product Description

What Makes Our Marine Mattress Different

You deserve better than a stock marine mattress. We handcraft each marine mattress using the same premium materials as our award-winning Sombrio 7" Natural Latex Mattress—100% natural Talalay latex, organic cotton, and New Zealand Joma Wool.

Unlike mass-produced marine mattresses, ours are custom-built for your exact berth dimensions and shape. Whether you're outfitting an 18-foot Bayliner or a 130-foot offshore yacht, we create mattresses that fit like they were made for your vessel—because they were.

Built for Life on the Water

Every marine environment presents unique challenges. That's why we've engineered our marine mattresses with features that matter on the water:

Moisture resistance — Hypervent underlay prevents mold and mildew growth
Antimicrobial and antifungal — Natural Talalay latex resists microbes naturally
Breathable comfort — Won't sleep hot, even in warm climates
Low profile design — 7" height maintains your cabin's sleek appearance
Exceptional durability — Built to withstand marine conditions for years

The organic cotton ticking is quilted through one ounce per square foot of Joma Wool, creating a sleep surface that regulates temperature naturally.

Custom Fit Options

We understand that no two berths are identical. That's why we offer three complexity levels to match your specific needs:

Level #1 — Rectangle ($1,879)
Simple rectangular cut with Hypervent moisture barrier. Perfect for standard berth configurations.

Level #2 — V-Berth or Shaped
Custom shapes and beveled edges to fit V-berths and unique configurations.

Level #3 — V-Berth with Hinges
Advanced customization including hinged mechanisms for V-berths with storage access.

Browse our complete Mattress Collection to compare with our land-based options, or explore our Natural Latex Toppers for additional comfort layering.

Choose Your Comfort Level

Available in four firmness options to match your sleep preferences:

Soft — Gentle contouring for side sleepers
Medium — Balanced support for most sleep positions
Firm — Enhanced support for back and stomach sleepers
Extra Firm — Maximum support for those who prefer a firm surface

Ordering Your Custom Marine Mattress

The process is straightforward. After placing your order, we'll send you a patterning kit to create an exact template of your berth. You can pattern it yourself or have a local professional do it. Once we receive your pattern, we'll handcraft your custom mattress and ship it anywhere in Canada at no additional charge.

Product FAQ

Is this mattress good for all boat sizes?

Yes! We've custom-built mattresses for vessels from 18-foot boats to 130-foot yachts. Our three complexity levels accommodate any berth configuration.

How does it handle moisture on a boat?

Our marine mattresses include a Hypervent underlay that acts as a moisture barrier, preventing mold and mildew. The natural Talalay latex also resists moisture naturally.

Can I choose different firmness levels for a double berth?

Absolutely. We can create split-firmness options so each side of the bed has personalized support—perfect for couples with different comfort preferences.

How long does a custom marine mattress take to build?

Build times range from 48 hours to 6 weeks, depending on complexity. Level 1 rectangular cuts are fastest, while Level 3 hinged configurations take longer.

What if the mattress is too firm after delivery?

Since marine mattresses are custom-made, we can't exchange them. However, we'll create a discounted natural latex topper to soften the feel if needed.

Does it sleep hot like other boat mattresses?

No. Natural Talalay latex is inherently breathable, and the Joma Wool helps regulate temperature. This combination prevents the hot sleeping common with synthetic marine mattresses.

Is the 7-inch height suitable for low-profile berths?

Yes, the 7-inch profile maintains an elegant, low appearance while providing full comfort and support—ideal for most marine cabin configurations.

Can you make unusual shapes like curved or angled berths?

Definitely. Our Level 2 and 3 options handle custom shapes, bevels, and even hinged mechanisms. Send us your pattern and we'll make it work.

What's included in the patterning kit?

We provide everything you need to create an accurate template of your berth, including detailed instructions. You can do it yourself or have a local professional help.

How is this different from a regular Sombrio mattress?

The marine version includes Hypervent moisture protection and is built to handle marine environments. Otherwise, it uses the same premium natural materials and construction as our land-based Sombrio.
