Product FAQ
Is this mattress good for all boat sizes?
Yes! We've custom-built mattresses for vessels from 18-foot boats to 130-foot yachts. Our three complexity levels accommodate any berth configuration.
How does it handle moisture on a boat?
Our marine mattresses include a Hypervent underlay that acts as a moisture barrier, preventing mold and mildew. The natural Talalay latex also resists moisture naturally.
Can I choose different firmness levels for a double berth?
Absolutely. We can create split-firmness options so each side of the bed has personalized support—perfect for couples with different comfort preferences.
How long does a custom marine mattress take to build?
Build times range from 48 hours to 6 weeks, depending on complexity. Level 1 rectangular cuts are fastest, while Level 3 hinged configurations take longer.
What if the mattress is too firm after delivery?
Since marine mattresses are custom-made, we can't exchange them. However, we'll create a discounted natural latex topper to soften the feel if needed.
Does it sleep hot like other boat mattresses?
No. Natural Talalay latex is inherently breathable, and the Joma Wool helps regulate temperature. This combination prevents the hot sleeping common with synthetic marine mattresses.
Is the 7-inch height suitable for low-profile berths?
Yes, the 7-inch profile maintains an elegant, low appearance while providing full comfort and support—ideal for most marine cabin configurations.
Can you make unusual shapes like curved or angled berths?
Definitely. Our Level 2 and 3 options handle custom shapes, bevels, and even hinged mechanisms. Send us your pattern and we'll make it work.
What's included in the patterning kit?
We provide everything you need to create an accurate template of your berth, including detailed instructions. You can do it yourself or have a local professional help.
How is this different from a regular Sombrio mattress?
The marine version includes Hypervent moisture protection and is built to handle marine environments. Otherwise, it uses the same premium natural materials and construction as our land-based Sombrio.
