Warranty
Most mattress companies have complicated warranties that are full of small print and confusing legal jargon, but we want to keep it simple. Fawcett mattresses are covered by a simple 10 Year Warranty and 100 night comfort exchange. You can exchange your mattress for the same model of a different firmness or configuration for a fee of $499 including shipping. If you can return your existing Fawcett Mattress to a Fawcett retail location, and pick up the replacement mattress, then we will waive the $499 fee and the comfort exchange will have no cost to you. For areas within 30km of a Fawcett retail location, we can arrange delivery of the comfort exchange mattress, along with the pickup of the original mattress for $99.

Product FAQ
What style of sleeper is the Sombrio mattress appropriate for?
The Sombrio is our most popular mattress and a great choice for healthy sleepers. It’s great for anyone that doesn’t have chronic issues. Back sleepers, side sleepers, stomach sleepers and toss and turn. Excellent. However if you have sore hips, sore shoulders or other considerations, you may wish to look to a sleep surface with a topper. Of course, many clients start with the Sombrio and add a topper down the road as their life and body changes.
What is the Sombrio mattress made of?
We acquire what we believe to be the best natural latex foam available in the world. It’s made using the Talalay process VS the Dunlop process. The Talalay process creates a highly resilient, pressure relieving sleep surface. Dunlop can make a good base, but we find it provides a muted and dead feeling - inferior as a sleep surface to Talalay Latex.
What is the difference between an all latex mattress like the Sombrio and a hybrid spring mattress like the Goldstream? 3
A key difference is a lower profile. 7” for Sombrio and 9” height for the Goldstream. Is the two inch difference important to you? Some people prefer the feel of all latex vs a hybrid pocket coil mattress. The Sombrio will be marginally heavier though too. A Queen Sombrio weighs about 100 pounds and a Queen Goldstream about 85 lbs. Both are very well received. A lot of the decision comes down to personal preference.
Is the Sombrio mattress flippable?
It sure is. The beauty of this mattress is its simplicity - and that it’s a full flip mattress. Flip and rotate every 6 months or so to get the maximum longevity from your Sombrio.
Can I use the Sombrio mattress in my boat or RV?
We make many Sombrio’s for RV’s and boats. They are very well suited for this type of application, as we can customize the size very easily. Also, at only 7 inches in height, the Sombrio is perfect where vertical space is limited.
Is the Sombrio mattress compatible with an adjustable bed?
Absolutely. We have hundreds of clients using the Sombrio with their adjustable bed. It Conforms very well to the articulation of an adjustable bed.
Can the Sombrio mattress be customized?
Yes indeed! We can create any size or shape. We are only limited by your imagination. : ) There is no extra fee for a rectangular mattress that requires custom dimensions. Round, heart shaped - yes it’s possible - there will be a modest customization fee.
Does the Sombrio mattress ship for free across Canada?
Yes. We use a mattress compression machine to flatten and roll, then package your Sombrio in Victoria to ship to you via courier. It arrives in a box and may need a friend to carry to your bedroom.
How do I clean the Sombrio mattress?
We recommend a mattress protector such as our Australian Wool protector. That will prevent most cleaning of the mattress. But in the event you need to clean your mattress you can spot clean areas too.
What kind of bedframe/base works best with the Sombrio mattress?
The Sombrio will work well with almost any base. Most importantly is the integrity of the base, that it is completely flat and supportive. The base should also ‘breath’ so that there is airflow below the mattress to prevent moisture from being trapped, and causing mould. This stands for every mattress on the market.
Is this mattress safe for someone with a latex allergy?
We have a number of clients with latex allergies sleeping on the Sombrio. Every person is different, but most of our clients have found their latex allergic reaction comes from touching latex. There is a layer of cotton and wool in between the latex and your mattress protector, and then a sheet set. If you’re concerned about this, ask us for a sample and we can send you a small piece of latex!
What kind of bed frame should I use?
Slatted bed frame for optimal support breathability. Slat spacing + width should be no more than 2" between slats. All of the bed bases we offer work well.
