Warranty & Comfort Exchange
Every Tofino is covered by a simple 10-year warranty and our 100-Night Comfort Exchange. The Tofino gives you two feels in one, so start by flipping it: give each side a couple of weeks. If it still isn't right after 30 nights, and within 100 nights of delivery, we'll help with a 2" or 3" topper at special comfort pricing, or an upgrade to any other mattress we offer, with the full price of your Tofino credited. You pay the difference, plus our standard exchange fee: free at a Fawcett store, $99 for pickup and delivery within 30 km, or $499 beyond.
Because the Tofino is flippable, same-model firmness exchanges don't apply. One comfort exchange per mattress. Toppers purchased through a comfort exchange are final sale. See full policy
Shipping & Delivery
The Tofino ships for free across Canada. We use a mattress compression machine to flatten and roll, then package your Tofino in Victoria to ship to you via courier. It arrives in a box with a handle and wheels, but we recommend a friend help out to carry it to your bedroom. Queen is ready to ship now; all other sizes will be available from early-December.
Care Instructions
Please DO NOT WASH the cover. The wool will become damaged. We recommend a mattress protector such as our Australian Wool protector, which will prevent most cleaning needs. For spills, blot with a clean cloth and spot clean with a little mild soap and cool water, then let it air dry completely. The Tofino works well with almost any base that is completely flat, supportive and breathable, so moisture can't get trapped and cause mould. Use a slatted bed frame for optimal support and breathability, with no more than 3" between slats. All of the bed bases we offer work well.

Product FAQ
Who is the Tofino mattress best for?
The Tofino suits side and back sleepers who like a medium-firm to firm, supportive feel. It's a great choice for kids, teens and young adults, guest rooms, and anyone who wants a natural all-latex mattress at a great price. If you have sore hips or shoulders, you may prefer the Sombrio's Talalay latex, or a sleep surface with a topper. We're always happy to help you choose.
What is the Tofino mattress made of?
Just a few simple, natural materials:
• 6" of GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex: a 3" Medium-Firm layer on one side and a 3" Firm layer on the other
• GOTS-certified wool on both sleeping surfaces, for breathability and temperature regulation
• A zip-on organic cotton cover, made in Canada
No synthetic foams and no springs.
What sizes are available?
Single, Single XL, Double, Queen and King. The Tofino is 6" tall. Queen is ready to ship now, and all other sizes will be available from mid-November.
Where is the Tofino mattress made?
The Tofino is made in Canada. We use certified organic latex from Sri Lanka, our organic cotton cover fabric is made in Canada and sewn in Ontario, and every mattress is finished and packed at our workshop in Victoria, BC.
What is the difference between the Tofino and the Sombrio?
Both are all-latex mattresses. Here's how they differ:
• Latex: The Tofino uses Dunlop latex, which feels denser and more supportive. The Sombrio uses Talalay latex, which feels lighter, bouncier and more pressure-relieving.
• Firmness: The Tofino is flippable, with two feels in one mattress: Medium-Firm on one side and Firm on the other.
• Cover: The Tofino has a simple zip-on organic cotton cover, made in Canada, with GOTS-certified wool on both sleeping surfaces. The Sombrio has a tape-edge cover with wool quilted into the organic cotton.
• Price: Dunlop latex is simpler to make, so the Tofino costs less.
Choose the Tofino for firm, supportive comfort and great value. Choose the Sombrio if pressure relief and a plusher feel matter most.
What is the difference between Dunlop and Talalay latex?
Both start with the same natural ingredient: sap from the rubber tree. The difference is how the latex is made.
Dunlop: The liquid latex is whipped into a froth, poured into a mould and baked. This simpler process creates a denser, more solid feel that is very supportive and durable.
Talalay: The mould is only partly filled, then sealed and vacuum-expanded. The latex is flash-frozen to set an even structure, then baked. The result is lighter, airier and more consistent, with a springy, pressure-relieving feel. The extra steps take more time and energy, which is why Talalay costs more.
In short: Dunlop is supportive and solid. Talalay is buoyant and cushioning. Neither is better; it comes down to the feel you prefer.
What is the difference between an all-latex mattress like the Tofino and a hybrid spring mattress like the Goldstream?
The Tofino is all latex. The Goldstream is a hybrid pocket coil mattress.
• Feel: All latex feels solid and quiet, with very little motion transfer. Pocket coils add a little more bounce and airflow.
• Height: The Tofino is 6" tall. The Goldstream is about 9".
• Weight: A Queen Tofino weighs about 100 lbs. A Queen Goldstream weighs about 85 lbs.
Both are very well loved, so it mostly comes down to personal preference. Not sure? Reach out and we'll help you decide.
Is the Tofino mattress flippable?
Yes. Every Tofino has two sides: Medium-Firm on one and Firm on the other. Sleep on whichever side you prefer, and flip it anytime your needs change. To keep wear even, rotate it head-to-foot every 3 to 6 months.
Is the Tofino mattress compatible with an adjustable bed?
Yes. All-latex mattresses bend easily with an adjustable base and spring back to shape when flat, which makes the Tofino a natural fit.
Does the Tofino mattress ship free across Canada?
Yes. We compress, roll and box your Tofino at our workshop in Victoria, then ship it free to you by courier anywhere in Canada. The box has a handle and wheels, but it's heavy (a Queen is about 100 lbs), so plan on two people to carry it. Unbox and unroll it as soon as it's in your room, and it will return to its full shape. See our shipping details for timelines.
Does the Tofino mattress have a smell?
Natural latex can have a light, sweet scent when it's new. It fades with fresh air, usually within a few days. There are no synthetic foams in the Tofino.
How do I clean the Tofino mattress?
Please DO NOT WASH the cover. Do not put it in a washing machine or dryer, or have it dry cleaned. The wool is bonded to the cover, and washing will damage it.
The best way to keep your Tofino clean is to use a mattress protector, such as our Australian Wool protector. For spills, blot (don't rub) with a clean cloth. Then spot clean with a little mild soap and cool water, using as little water as possible. Let it air dry completely before making the bed. Don't soak or steam the mattress, and keep the latex out of direct sunlight.
What kind of bed frame or base works best with the Tofino mattress?
Almost any base that is flat, solid and breathable. A slatted bed frame gives the best support and airflow; slats should be no more than 2" apart so the latex is evenly supported. Solid platforms work too; just make sure air can flow underneath. Without airflow, moisture can get trapped and cause mould, and that's true for every mattress. Adjustable bases and all of the bed bases we offer are great matches.
Is the Tofino mattress safe for someone with a latex allergy?
For most people with a latex allergy, reactions come from touching latex directly. In the Tofino, the latex never touches your skin. It's fully enclosed by wool and organic cotton, and you'll add a mattress protector and sheets on top. Everyone is different, though. If you have a latex allergy, especially a severe one, please check with your doctor first. Ask us for a free latex sample to test at home.
Why don't you offer free returns like some online brands?
Free returns are built into the price of most bed-in-a-box mattresses. Those are usually made from low-cost polyurethane foam, so the cost of every mattress that comes back, which usually can't be resold, is spread across everyone's price. Our mattresses are made from natural latex, wool and organic cotton, which cost far more. Rather than raise prices for everyone, we focus on getting your comfort right: with the Tofino's two-sided design, toppers and upgrades. That's what most people need.
